You snooze, you loose...

Ok, I have to admit the original title of this post is WAY better in Italian. We say: "Chi dorme non piglia pesci" or "you snooze, you don't catch fish".

This morning bright and early we got down to Marinella di Selinunte, where every morning at about 8.30 a.m. the local fishing boats discharge their night catches under a portico and the day's fish auction takes place.

Sunday is not the best day to go, especially in high season as the prices soar in proportion to the public's appetites, but we got ourselves a nice octopus that was fit for a king's lunch!

The show is always fun - but be sure, if you are going to bid, not to bid against your friends, as it happened to us a few years ago, doh!
