At the beginning there was oil... and cake!

Back in November 2017, I was preparing the launch of the new Urrah website and had lots of plans to refresh this blog. I definitely wanted to introduce recipes and sure, lots of delicious ones will be added in the following months. Back then things got a bit hectic, with the launch of the Urrah's Facebook page, the first recipe I was intrigued by, was of an orange and pistachios olive oil cake which was - of course - found on the internet. I was reluctant at first, but tried it and it was a huge success!

The main attraction to try it was the insistence on the olio nuovo, which had just arrived at the time. Also, I was expecting a gluten intolerant child in the house for the weekend, but the cake didn't obviously last til Saturday and got finished in one coffee meetup.

The original cake recipe can be found her

Just a note for the UK. I had trouble finding full fat crème fraîche which meant that I couldn't whip the filling to the stiffness I would have liked!

Nigellissima

Posting the results on Facebook, a dear friend suggested I tried a chocolate olive cake by Nigella Lawson.

I was running out of time and the in laws were due to arrive any minute for the Christmas holidays. With the help of child#2 we whipped this up in less than 20 minutes!

Father in law, was the biggest fan, and not only of the cake!

I have been buying your oil for 3 years now and it is so delicious that I saved it for special meals and for my vegetables and salads but I have recently discovered that the organic rapeseed oil and sunflower oil staples I used in my everyday cooking were causing inflammation and pain for me. Since I switched to your oil for all my culinary needs, I no longer suffer. It is extraordinary that supermarket shelves are filled with poisons (essentially) and we consume without any idea of the damage being done to us. On a brighter note, just made a delicious carrot cake this afternoon with Urrah olive oil and it is heavenly. Hurrah Urrah!
